ADVISORY
BY DECREE OF THE LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS
PENALTY: In some
situations, first time offenders may be fined up to $500,000, imprisoned for
five years, or both. For repeat offenders, the maximum penalty increases to a
fine of $1,000,000, imprisonment for up to ten years, or both.*
Oh My Gosh !! REALLY, Really,
really?
Per The
Atlantic article , congress says we
really do not "own" our smartphones. Well,
maybe the outer case. So
now, if you are unhappy you have to buy a NEW phone when you change carriers. Arggghhh! This is akin to my
have a Nook for my Ereader and only being allowed to put in ebooks that are
sold by Barnes and Noble. Forget
Amazon. Forget
buying from any other online ebook seller. Trapped
! But hey the secondary market for used phones will become huge..ie. selling on
ebay etc. The
fine is outrageous, the law is squeezing our rights to a sliver and the cell
phone companies make out like bandits. Better do your research folks -before
you buy into a contract with a carrier. This
will degrade customer services because
you are stuck until you can afford to buy another phone and/or buy out your
contract. GRR-rrrrrr.
This is so
wrong on so many levels.
